Coolblue wants to open 6 stores this year

Retailer commits itself to physical stores even more

Summary

Coolblue wants to open no less than 6 stores this year. For this reason, the online retailer is looking for suitable storefronts in the major Dutch and Belgian cities. Today, Coolblue opens the first of 6 new stores, in Leiden.

Coolblue commits itself to physical stores even more. Today, the online retailer opens its 13th store, in Leiden’s city center. Soon, they will add the flagship store in Brussels. On top of this, Coolblue wants to open an additional 4 stores this year.

Pieter Zwart, Coolblue Founder: “We know that customers often have an idea of which product they want, but want to experience it first. If you are looking for a new TV, you first want to see it with your own eyes. If you are looking for a wireless speaker, you want to hear what it really sounds like. On top of this, our customers want to visit the store to pick up their order, get personal advice, or have their product repaired. We want to offer even more customers the ability to do so.”

The physical Coolblue stores also serve as a hub for CoolblueBikes, our own delivery service by bike. Orders of small products in and around the stores are delivered from the stores by bike.

Suitable storefronts

For the further rollout of physical stores, Coolblue is looking for suitable storefronts larger than 1,000 m².

Pieter Zwart continues: “We are still looking for more and even better storefronts in the major Dutch and Belgian cities. We look at both cities we do not have a store in yet, such as Almere, Breda, and Hasselt, and at cities we already have a store in, such as The Hague and Rotterdam. By the end of this year, we want to have a Coolblue store in 18 cities.”
